Hi!
I'm back and there are two lists all at once...
The matter has to be decided and I am the BOSS :-))))))) resp.
Administrator/Owner !
I suggest to go back to the old list: [email protected]

1) some time ago we've talked about this and the decision of
majority of list subscribers was to stay
2) I counted the number of people subscribed to the new list at
ONElist right now and it is much more smaller than on the old one

I know there are advantages there on the ONElist (I use it as well
for couple of other interests of mine)......but still for me
as a conservative person there is "something rotten" there either
(just kidding but you may understand what I mean- ?).
And there are not too many or too often problems with listserv at
cuni.cz I guess (Come on, I hear you all pesimists!!!)

Hope this will be accepted with understanding.
Please: stay or come back to the [email protected]
I'm going to cancel the list on Onelist.com soon.

All the best,
Vera
Administrator of the list.

Someone sent me an email, and his sig line is a hoot!

                    "My name... is Amiga Montoya.
                    You killed my computer.
                   prepare to die!"

And, I was watching the Andrew Lloyd Webber birthday celebration on PBS last
night -- the first chance I've had to hear Antonio Banderas sing. I'm
sorry, he is nowhere near in Mandy's league. He is a depressing Che and an
inadequate Phantom, and our guy is or would be much better. My opinion of
Webber's ear and judgment drops another notch...

Subject: MP: The Wild Party

I found this article online today, so thought I'd pass it along. So The
Wild Party is definitely headed for Broadway (which had already been
reported here) - now let's hope Mandy really signs on!

LaChiusa's Wild Party Officially Announced for B'way in March 2000

By Robert Viagas

The New York Shakespeare Festival announced Aug. 11 that it is definitely
planning to mount Michael John LaChiusa's new musical, The Wild Party, on
Broadway in March 2000.

No theatre or specific dates were announced.

NYSF's Artistic Director George C. Wolfe, who will stage The Wild Party, had
been considering the idea of Broadway since late spring, after a planned May
production of the musical was postponed at NYSF's Off-Broadway base of
operations, the Joseph Papp Public Theatre in Greenwich Village.

That means LaChiusa, composer of Hello Again and one of the leading lights
of the Pomo Musical movement, will have two musicals on Broadway this
season. His Marie Christine opens at the Vivian Beaumont in December.

Theatrical Index reports that NYSF is seeking Vanessa Williams, Mandy
Patinkin and Eartha Kitt for the leads, but those names were not confirmed.
Among performers whose names have been floated in connection with the
project: Leah Hocking and pop star Madonna.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME?: A major new musical will now get a much
higher-profile production than originally expected.

Public Theatre spokesperson Carol Fineman told BroadwayNow in June that
Wolfe had decided not to limit himself to one of the Public Theatre's
stages, which he felt could be too small for the large-scale musical. The
Wild Party is based on a poem by Joseph Moncure March about a seductive
blond and the wild party that transforms her life.

Through a strange coincidence of timing, another musical based on the same
poem -- and also titled The Wild Party -- will open in New York at
approximately the same time. Manhattan Theatre Club has set Jan. 25 as first
preview and Feb. 22 for the opening of it's own The Wild Party, with a score
by Andrew Lippa, who wrote the new songs added to the recent Broadway
revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. These included Kristin
Chenoweth's show-stopping "My New Philosophy." The Lippa Party had a
workshop reading May 20, and, depending on when in March LaChiusa's Wild
Party previews, will likely be playing at the same time.

As reported previously by BroadwayNow, Wolfe co-wrote The Wild Party with
composer-lyricist LaChiusa, and is scheduled to direct. Wolfe was involved
as writer/director on two previous major musicals: Jelly's Last Jam and
Noise/Funk.

Joey McKneeley (Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Life) was announced as choreographer.

It would be Wolfe's first return to Broadway since the failure of his On the
Town revival in December 1998. The Public Theatre's finances and prestige
traditionally have been enhanced with long-running Broadway transfers
including Hair, A Chorus Line, Two Gentlemen of Verona and Bring in 'da
Noise, Bring in 'da Funk..

LaChiusa established his reputation at the Public Theatre, which produced
his imaginative time-traveling operetta, The First Lady Suite. He had a cult
hit with Hello Again at Lincoln Center in 1994, but his subsequent The
Petrified Prince flopped at the Public.

In addition to The Wild Party, LaChiusa, recently received a Lyric
Opera/Goodman commission, and is working on two other new musicals: Highest
Yellow for Virginia's Signature Theatre, and The Mark of Zorro.
