Anyway, has anyone seen that Japanese animated movie that Mandy does a
voice-over in? It came out here for a while, but I couldn't get to it (not
that I tried all that much--cartoon violence doesn't do it for me).
Anyone else think that Mandy would make a great James Bond villain? I'd hate

WARNING THIS IS NOT VIRUS FREE!!!
I am a Mac user who doesn't have to worry about it, but my friend's
daughter, who works for Progressive Ins. told me Wednesday that this cute
little game has destroyed and caused loss of many many programs on their
computers at work. They reported it and found that it is a virus, and since
they reported it, they get to name it. DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS GAME!!!!
THIS IS NOT A HOAX, I HEARD IT STRAIGHT FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS SEEN IT
HAPPEN AT WORK.
Sorry to shout, but I am worried about all of you having major problems.

The program checks out virus free here, too. Perhaps the one Rene's friends
have came from another source? I don't know that much about how to put a
virus in something, but I guess it would be possible for someone to infect a
copy of the program and the other copies of it would be free?

It's an MP list. But as Carol the Tax Lady already explained, this list
was started so we can talk off topic if we want to, with or without
putting OFF in the subject line. We try to when we think about it, and we
also try to remember to remove the second address from the To or CC list,
but we are not 100% successful.

Why do I even care about what? Spelling and grammar? Copying a person's
previous message so the reply makes sense? What? As for the spelling and
grammar, I'm an educator and I just believe that it's important in making
a person seem intelligent. Case in point: The president of a brand new
film production company just sent my fiance a packet of information on
investing in his company. The film he is trying to make may well be a
brilliant piece of work, but my fiance won't even read it, because the
cover letter was chock full of stupid mistakes. Spelling errors,
grammatical errors, run-on sentences. It reads like it was written by a
C-student high school freshman. Or 80% of the people on the Internet.
;-)
My favorite: "Unbenounced to him...."
Now, I don't deny that Internet/mailing list/chat conversation need not
be as grammatically correct as a doctorate's thesis or other published
work. But this kind of laziness is just obnoxious and makes one lose
one's credibility.
I have no idea who even started this thread, but I would be willing to
bet it was started at least partially in jest and taken way out of
proportion by people just a leeetle too defensive about it. These folks
should take a lesson from one of my Top 5 People on this list, Kathi Jo.
Instead of bitching at us for correcting her atrocious written
communication skills as a newbie, she merely sulked prettily in a corner
until we all felt sorry for her, and were charmed by her little cyber
pout.
You, we're just put off by. No offense of course, you obviously bring it
on yourself. I'm sure you're not trying to win my friendship at this
point, or you wouldn't have been so snarky with me. But it was really
unwarranted. All ya did was inspire me to waste more time and bandwidth
on a reply, which only perpetuated this annoying, boring, unresolvable
thread. :-)

Santa doesn't always give you what you wish for.... we're not stopping.
Besides, spelling clearly IS an issue on a mailing list. I have been on
very few where it wasn't an issue! The people who seem to be the most
adamant about it's NOT being an issue are generally the ones who don't
care enough about it to improve themselves.

Makes a difference to me. It's the only way I get to see Mandy, so I'm
hoping CH last as long as possible. I still like the show! (When
Jeffrey isn't there, I can watch Aaron!) And we do get the new ep on
Thursday! Good -- no repeats.

Is there a possibility that someone could send me a copy of Music Of Chance

I don't think that Mandy has the heart to play a villain. He said in TV
giude that being psychotic took to much out of him on CH. It would be really
neet to see him in a James Bond movie though!

He's already played at least two..... One in "House on Carroll Street"
and of course the evil, villainous Huxley in "Elmo in Grouchland." (was
that his name?)
> He said in TV giude that being psychotic took to much out of him on CH.
I think maybe playing a non-villainous psychotic would be different than
playing a villain who is totally comfortable with his villainy. Geiger
doesn't WANT to be bad, he's more troubled and tormented than anything.
Not that villains can't be, too, but a James Bond villain wouldn't have
nearly the same type of emotional element as the tortured Geiger.

Your spell checker has "giude" as a real word? ;-)

I am so happy for you. The person I talked with, a senior programer said
that their virus checkers were not picking up the virus, but that when
several programers who had been using it for a while, all discovered
important files missing, this was determined to be the source. I was going
to actually call my friend, get her daughter's number, call her and get the
exact information, because there are people on this list that are my friends
and that I care about, but hey, they are careful, and probably will
probably not bother with the program.
As far as Progressive, I'm sure Peter Lewis would just cry himself to sleep
reading your opinion of his company, but then he would just go out and buy
another billion dollar painting, or start another nursery for his
employees.
As far as your sarcastic comments about me and my knowledge, I can't buy
billion dollar paintings, but I care about as much as Peter Lewis would. I
only bothered to pass on the information because it was so very recently
given to me, and because there are some people on this list who I give a
dang about . . .you whoever the heck you are, are definitely not in that
catagory.
By the way, someone enlighten me, as I threw out a bunch of recent mail,

I find his current movie output depressing and disappointing. How I wish he
would -star- in some major movies! Serious roles that would showcase his
acting skills. I won't even make unreasonable demands about swimming-hole
scenes, or singing. It occurs to me that he doesn't need the money or
exposure, and we may -never- see him in a proper venue...

I apologise for my last hasty, angry, sarcastic, mean, and ungramatical
reply to the message HTB1998 wrote about my warning. I am not a person who
would ever send a virus warning to a list, because so often they are
hoaxes. However, when I was told about a problem program, and three days
later found a list (that has some of my friends on it) being told to
download the program I was warned about, I felt I needed to pass along what
my friend's daughter told me. I hope I'm wrong, but one of things she told
me was that the various virus checkers at work did not pick up on this
program.
No one is infallible, and neither is a virus checker. Just, please, those
of you I care about, be careful, and as for the person mentioned above,
well you can just tightrope without a net as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry, I was going to try and keep this whole thing nice this time around,
but I'm finding it really difficult where this person is concerned.

Now, why would you, a Mac user, feel the need to call up one of their senior
programmers to inquire about a game you could never use on your own computer?
But to put everyone's mind at ease, I've forwarded this last e-mail from you
and the first one where you made the original accusation to NvisionDesign,
the creator of the program, which has an excellent reputation among
webhosting services and e-commerce concerns, to see what they have to say.

I think this type of thing should be passed on to the
list...Virus checks can't possibly know
everything...but as I recall, I tried to pass on some
info that I had received from my school district
office and you were pretty harsh with me about it
being an urban legend.

In some people's worlds, this is called "generous expenditure of one's
own time for the benefit of one's friends." But maybe this is something
so completely foreign to you that you wouldn't recognize pure human
decency if it bit you on the ass.
Or maybe you are, I dunno.

Whatever they say, and I'm sure it'll be that there is no virus involved,
it doesn't really put my mind at ease at all. I tend not to download
things like this from the Internet or open/install little cutesy .exe
files my friends email me, regardless of the reputation of the original
creator of the program. First of all, I'm not familiar with their
reputations for the most part; secondly, just because the original
creator is on the up and up doesn't mean other people can't get ahold of
it and virus-ise it (or can't they? See, I just don't know, so I don't
take the chance); and thirdly, the more little thingies I download and
install, the more damn problems I have with my computer. PC, by the way,
running Windows 95. My computer guru friend confirmed for me that all the
.DLL thingies (he called them something a bit more technical; he's such a
nerd) can create weirdo, unexpected and unexplainable conflicts with
other little computer thingies inside o' there.

In your case, Carol ... I'm afraid we'll have to. "Bring" may sort of look

the word you need there is "bringing."

Look, all, I don't know if Donna Smith unsubbed because I came back or
not -- presumably, I am not worth anyone's time and attention, but I assume
I unfortunately hurt her feelings. Anyhow, I am going to go "no mail" or
unsub, and so perhaps she will return. I have also learned NEVER again to
participate in a discussion of copyright issues on any list.

Apparently you missed the part of the copyright discussion where it was
mentioned that the posts to a private mail list (which this is) are
copyrighted and require the creator's (note the lowercase "c") permission to
be copied in other places.
As to why a Mac user would be concerned...she explained that...she was
concerned because she considers many of the list members to be friends and
doesn't want them to have a problem.

DAMN!!! Busted! ...and I saw it immediately when I opened your
post...proving the point that one cannot reliably proof one's own work as
it's being written [see, I DO know that "being" isn't a gerund and that
"it's" isn't a possessive! ]

Good God, it's not like Rene is out to get you! As she said, she just
happened to know somebody this happened to so it set off alarm bells! As for
why, she answered that already:
>because there are people on this list that are my friends

And we thank you, Rene!
>But to put everyone's mind at ease, I've forwarded this last e-mail from you

Argh! It wasn't an accusation! Everyone knows it's easy to unwittingly pass
along some sorta bug. Since the one Rene mentioned had eluded her friend's
virus checkers, it's likely to have eluded yours too. You should be grateful
that Rene managed to reply so quickly with her info.

list is just not for me. So have a ball, y'all.

To all who are holding tickets to Proctor's hoping that he will reschedule,
the news is not good. My friend, who is a member of the theater, received a
letter yesterday requesting that another selection be made or a refund. They
state he is tied up with filming Chicago Hope and are not sure he will be
able to reschedule. I am extremely upset since I have not seen him since May
in Newark, NJ. The first time Mandy
appeared at Proctor's it was a last minute concert and it sold out in one
week. I am
sure the theater will book him on short notice, but feel they cannot hold
their patrons up any longer.
Please continue to share all of your experiences so I can live vicariously
through you.
