Hi all!

As part of the push for endlessly fascinating Mandy topics..........

Did y'all know that Mandy was the Uncola Teen Angel early in his career? It
was stated in the Playbill for one of his early shows that he did "personal
appearances as the Uncola teen angel." What a hoot!! Mandy at the mall
pushing soda!!!

I asked him about this meaty role (at least it was mainstream) when I asked
him to sign the playbill and he just rolled his eyes. He did exclaim over the
playbill though.

Well, I thought it was funny. Remember the Uncola teen angel? I think he wore
a white jumpsuit ala Elvis with wings. Now I would love a picture of Mandy in
that outfit.

Actually I think it's because people are finally tired of hearing the snobs

OK, so you disagree that spelling is important. You disagree with
the...what, five people on this entire list (how many are on this list?)
who have said anything about the importance of spelling. And with the
millions of not-even-English-teacher teachers and professors in the world
who harp on the importance of spelling. And with the millions of
businesspersons who throw resumes in the circular file because of
crappily spelled cover letters. But we're all snobs, what do WE know?

So....disagree if you want. If you don't want to hear us argue FOR
spelling, STOP ARGUING AGAINST IT!

It aired here at 8:20 pm on the West Coast. Same time last week as well.
Perhaps it'll air next Sunday too.... Not a voiceover. MP appears on
screen in Black Tee.

I believe in "forgive" but "forget" generally been a different thing
entirely. However, as I age, I'm finding that forgetting is happening more
and more - seems to come naturally! (Maybe that's the origin of the saying
"With age comes wisdom." It's not really that people become wiser as they
age, just that they seem that way because they start forgetting all that old
baggage!)

No, but I have the movie. It's "The Gift of Asher Lev". Mandy said he was
interested in doing it and there's a perfect role for Kathryn as his slightly
older wife. He was hoping to do it for Showtime when we talked about it a
couple of years ago. Don't know progress since.

Saludos, everyone. I'm back in San Miguel de Allende after a month in
Florida. Will be here for a couple off weeks, then flying to San Francisco
where my daughter is expecting twins (!!!) sometime between now and the new
millennium.

For those of you who might still be wondering why I chose to retire to San
Miguel, I suggest you run out and buy a book entitled Live Well in Mexico,
Ken Luboff, John Muir Publications, published in October of this year. On
pages 178 and 179 you'll find my essay on the subject.

The list's recent extensive discussion of copyright law prompts me to
remind you once again that I still collect a minute percentage of a minute
percentage every time you buy, rent, or watch Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief,
based on my father's novel. For more on this subject than you really want
to know, check out:

http://www.david-dodge.com

So why not help finance my retirement? A nice copy of To Catch a Thief
would make a cool gift for Mandy-deprived friends.(Furthermore, Paramount
has renewed its option with me on a possible remake, which means it's time
once again to play the who-should-play-Grace-and-Cary game. When last we
played, the consensus, as I remember it, was Michele Pfeiffer and,
lemmesee, Daniel Day-Lewis or maybe Pierce Brosnan (too obvious). Any new
suggestions?)

And looking from the other side -- My grandfather (musician and band
leader) wrote a song in the 30's and sent it to an "agent" to get it
copyrighted. The agent promptly stole the song, changed one word in the
title, copyrighted it in his own name, and the song went on to be a huge
hit of the time. My grandfather never wrote another song ...

Well, I didn't pick up KJ's request in time for Mandy's birthday, so maybe
next year. Yes, KJ, I do indeed have the full set, including the dirty
ones, and would be delighted to provide them as a birthday gift for the
Man.

=46or newscomers to the list, a swifty is, well, a sentence in which the
adverb comments on the quotation by Tom Swift, as in:

"I wasn't there," said Tom absently.

"These bit patterns will be more readable in sets of eight," said Tom biting=
ly.

"No, I haven't read Voltaire," said Tom candidly.

Anyway, you get the idea. This led to contributions from the group ranging
from the inspired:

Diane A. Rosenfeldt:
"Uh, who left the X-ray machine on?" Geiger said radiantly.

Kendal:
"I did," Shutt replied glowingly.

BelleSoCal (Bev):
"My mother's gefilte fish jello is delicious," said Mandy shakily.

"I have an Emmy and a Tony," Mandy said winningly.

Dinny:
"I'm in 'The Music of Chance'," Mandy said austerely.

PennSt8Ina:
"I loved my role in Yentl," Mandy butted in.

Smittynag
"You keeled my father, prepare to die," said Inigo sharply.

J Nashe:
"Ohh, man! Like, wow =8A This is good stuff!" exclaimed Mandy and Kathryn
jointly.

Kendal:
"Mr. Ford, that piano is much too big to carry on the plane," the flight
attendant stewed.

KathiJoPet:
" I dont know how to punctuate properly" Mandy exclaimed.

Kendal:
"And why is that?" Kendal interrogated.
(Because I learned how from KathiJo) Mandy apostrophized.

to the obscene:

Dinny:
"My lovely and adequate thingamajig is really warm," said Mandy,
experiencing prickly heat.

Gail M. Eppers:
"You sick fuck," said Mandy testily.

Kendal:
"Sometimes you just gotta do everything yourself," said Mandy jerkily.

and the totally brilliant:

ActorDrew1:
"Yeah, so what if I'm Jewish?" replied Mandy half-cocked.

(and how do we explain *that* one to Kathryn?)

I have recently learned of the existence of the croaker, so-called because
it's the verb that does the heavy lifting, as in:

"I'm dying," he croaked.

My first contribution to the genre is:

"I've always wanted to play a soldier," Mandy grunted.

Hope someone can do better.

Kendal

Great ideas! And how about Rupert Everett? That British accent would fit
in just fine!! And he's not too hard on the eyes either!! ;-)

Here I am! ;) And since nobody in this dump seems to want to give me WORK =
to do (and of course as I type this, someone just came up and gave me =
some) here's a few off the top of my head:

"My rooster won first prize at 4-H!" Mandy crowed.

"I dropped that property damage case!" Mandy exclaimed.

"I don't do product endorsements," Mandy admonished.

"This is really inferior cocaine," Kendal sniffed. (Sorry, my sensitive =

that. Besides, essay or not, we KNOW Kendal's gotta be south of the border =

Hi, I just got this and thought it might be good to pass it on since
many of you own fan sites yourselves, no matter which fandom they belong
to, and this is a topic that affects us all.

bye, Nadine

Please please please show your support for this project by joining the
blackout campaign against fox. We will all be shutting down our fan
websites for one day next year to show our intent and outrage at what
fox
are doing. I have included all information below, and please sub to the
low
traffic mailing list for information and updates on the campaign -
http://www.onelist.com/subscribe/fanblackout/ or contact the organizer
of
the project - Jade at [email protected]

Last but not least PASS THIS ON to all fansite owners that you know on
the net. We can make a difference

Thanks so much

~Lill

Are you sick of how FOX is shutting down fan web sites for just
praising their show? Has your site become a victim to FOX
lawyers? Then join us... an underground organization to tell FOX
that we are fed up.

Who we are....
We are a group of philes who want to have fan sites, to tell
everyone of our favorite FOX shows. When we try, work hours and
months on our fan sites, just to be pushed around by FOX in the
end, well, what can we say. We are angry, disappointed, furious...
Some of us, our sites remain unaffected (for the time being) while
we see our friends sites fall to the hands of FOX. We are fed up.
We must strike back.

Our Plan....
Here it is, our big plan. On May 13, 2000 we are all going to shut
down our sites for 1 day. 1 day to peacefully show FOX what the
internet would be like without fan sites. Show them how drab and
boring the WWW would be.

How you can help....
If no one knows about this, then our idea will be in vain. What we
are trying to do is tell everyone about our organization. We need to
be heard to make a difference. If you want to join, feel free to do
so! We can use all of the help we can get. Put our banner on your
site if you have one, join our mailing list at onelist.com, tell all of
your friends, you can even just tell anyone on the street if you want
to. Only with your help, we can pull this off (God I feel like Smokey
the Bear right now). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A
FOX-BASED FAN SITE TO HELP OUT! WE
WELCOME ALL SITES!!!

The masterminds....
This idea wouldn't exist without Alessandro. He is the one who got
this great idea. Jade is the one who made (and will maintain) the
site, being the computer nerd that she is.

Sites Participating....
The X-Files X-Planation Source
The Jurrasic Park Movies Site
The Shanahan Spot
Lil's Shipper Page

Becoming a Member....
Please, if you own a site and agree that FOX is being too strict, join
us. All we ask is that you put our banner on your site. The banner is
both at the top of the screen, and at the bottom. The code for the
banner is:
Join the fight
against FOX shutting down fan sites

After you do that, you should join the Mailing List to get the most up to date information. Spread the word!!!! The more people that participate in this, the more effect we will have ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: about lulu on the bridge and Mandy Date: Mon, 06 Dec 1999 12:24:05 PST Errors-to: Sender: [email protected] X-listname: Comments: Originally To: [email protected] Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Mailer: Mercury MTS (Bindery) v1.44 HI ALL Well yes I saw lulu on the bridge and I was very, very disappointed I took two movies from the video library Lulu=85 that just arrive to Isra= el=20 this week, And Patch Adams with Robin Williams it was a very good and brilliant movi= e Robin acted so great - I love this man:) And I can stop thinking why, wh= y=20 Mandy don't have this Kind of roles????
