Well, they didn't air the show yesterday as they do normally on wednesday
night here in Canada. So i'll have to watch it tonight. I'm so impatient to
know what happens to Aaron. I loved the original "Quarantine". So i hope
tonight's episode is not a dumb parody of it.

Yes, I totally agree, it was a wonderful concert and he was fabulous! I
was one of the people who got to go on stage - I ran from the very last
row of the first floor too! I couldn't believe that I was standing on the
same stage as Mandy!! He didn't kiss all of the people on stage though -
I would've loved that, but it just didn't happen. I had to wait til after
the show for my hug & kiss, but it was well worth it! I have been a fan
for MANY years and felt like a teenager again as I watched him with the
fans afterwards! I just couldn't believe that the man I have adored for
so long was standing right next to me and then hugging me!! Such a
dream!! I loved the concert itself, he sure can sing a great love song!
And to hear him singing some of the songs from my childhood was great
too!! I am planning to go see him whenever he is appearing close enough
for me to drive to and can't wait for that to be!

Isn't that the truth...imho Jeffrey makes a lousy
friend and an even lousier administrator. (of course
he would have justification not to get exposed to a
plague-Alicia) The sad reality is that even when MP is
on, it's just a gesture, not a real part of the scheme
of things, and in some ways even more frustrating.

This is what made Geiger's infrequent appearances after his departure so =

Hi all---

Sorry it took so long for me to get a concert report to all of
you---still on a high from the last two nights of seeing Mandy.

The concert in Clinton Township is one that Yvonne (a fellow lister) and
I will never forget probably for the rest of our lives. As a another
poster already has said, the songs were many and hard to remember all of
them.

He sang quite a few numbers from the new album, including The Emperor's
New Clothes, If I Only had a Brain, Everybody Says Don't and The Ugly
Duckling. There may have been others, but I can't recall them.

Some of the others he sang were Everyone Can Whistle, It's Not Easy Bein
Green, If I Loved You, Casey Medley, Solioquy from Carousel, and of
course, Coffee in a Cardboard Cup.

It was here that made the night so memorable. Yvonne and I had purchased
some gifts to give to him as birthday presents(a bit early, sure, but
what are you gonna do?) One gift was Luke, the black lab beanie baby.
This gift I had decided would be given to him by Ike, my black lab
service dog.

Yvonne took Ike up on stage--I was unable to go becuase the stairs had
no railing and no ramp for my wheelchair, so either method I use for
getting around was out.

Ike was trained to take things to people for me, carries them in his
mouth, and I had already told him to take it to Mandy. By the time
Yvonne and Ike got up on stage, Mandy had stopped singing and was
telling everyone how disappointed he was since no one had responded to
the cue to go up on stage, when around from behind the big speakers
comes Ike with the gift in his mouth.

Mandy saw Ike, who was returning to Yvonne when he realized something
wasn't right, and said "Come here boy!!" Ike went to him and Mandy tried
to get him to sit. Ike isn't used to listening to strange people as was
trained to respond to commands that follow his name. So I was trying to
be a bit helpful and said from my position in the front row behind the
orchestra pit, "Ike, sit" Well took a couple of repetitions from me
before he would and Mandy tried too, before he decided it was okay and
sat. We went through the same thing with Stay and Mandy said to me "Will
you let me talk to the dog? I speak fluent Ike!!!" Well, I was a bit
chastened, and a little embarrassed, but felt I needed to do that to
reassure Ike. Then Mandy spent about three minutes talking to Ike about
what a shame it was that he was the only one paying attention and petted
him a bit, then said "Before you go I would like to shake your paw." So
Mandy said "Ike, shake" Well, he couldn't do it with the package in his
mouth, and he knows the command as paw---shake means to settle the pack
and harness he wears--so I gathered up my courage and said, "Ike, paw"
Which is something that he doesn't do often for other people. Mandy said
it too, and Ike did offer him his paw.

It was great fun and after the concert at the meet and greet, Mandy did
tell me what a wonderful dog he was and how he wished his dogs were
anywhere near as smart, and we were able to pose for pictures and
everything. When we went out to where we had parked the car, we saw
Mandy's Limo parked by the stage door. We waited about ten minutes and
then Mandy and Staci came out. Mandy saw us there and said again what an
amazing dog I had and I gave Ike a chance to go and say goodbye to
Mandy. Ike was all set to jump in the limo, since the back door was
open(Smart dog!!!) But I called him back saying that he needed to stay
with me, and that we would see him the next night anyway.

Gosh, this is getting long---sorry. Last night at Mamaloshen it was
wonderful---anyone who hasn't seen the Mamaloshen show really should try
and get to one if they get the chance. The CD is great, but Mandy's
interpretation live was just simply incredible---it blew me away. You
can really tell he is singing from the heart and how much it means to
him.

After he had finshed with Mamaloshen he went off stage and came back out
with his tennis shoes. As he was putting them on he talked about how he
had done the concerts at the Orensanz and that since most people were
not happy with an hour concert he decided to add around a half hour of
Pops stuff, joked about how it takes him fifteen minutes to put on his
shoes and proceeded to do most of the same stuff from the Kidault album.
We were also treated to Over the Rainbow in Yiddish---I think it may
even be better than the English version.

After the show was over, which lasted about an hour and a half or so, we
waited around and were told that he was probably not coming out because
he wasn't feeling well---sure didn't show at the concert, except that he
seemed to be drinking more water than usual.

Then we were told there was a benefit going on upstairs to benefit Gilda
Radner's charity (can't remember exact name, sorry) and that we could go
up there and see him. So we went and Mandy seemed very happy to see Ike
and me too, although he couldn't remember my name. He said hi to Ike and
said, "Hello, you" to me and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek that
was even better than the one I had gotten the night before. We took
another picture and then hung back and waited around and watched him
interact with the others there until he left with Staci.

All in all it was a great couple of nights and Yvonne and I have
memories that will last a lifetime.

Please don't hesitate to email me if you want additional details I may
have left out---as I said I'm still a bit dazed from the whole
experience.

Erica and Ike(I really like Mandy too!!!)

Well, there's a lot of variation in the sizes of the places he performs =
in, so it's hard to say how many people attend. When he plays very large =
places, there may be some empty seats, but not very many in my experience.

I decided not to go because I was told it was the Mamaloshen show, and I
already had plans for that weekend, but I thought it was this weekend? I'm
not sure now, so don't quote me. And this weekend is already booked too.

Kim
(the big American Jewish writers conference is going on all this week--it's
an annual thing here in Atlanta, and I think his show is connected to the
conference in some way, but am not sure)

On the weekends I think this was true, but there were quite a few empty
seats on a Tuesday night in May in SF when I went.

I think that was the first night. The rest of the house was sold, according
to the manager of the Orpheum. But, a lot of the audience had also been
there more than one night. My sister went Wednesday, and then again when I
got into town Saturday. It was a blast!

Erica gave a great report and I am insanely jealous. I met Laurie there
before the concert and they told us there would be no meet and greet, that
he was upstairs at a reception and not feeling well; they never told US we
could go up there; but we went outside in the cold, windy, damp air (it was
trying to rain) and waited with a bunch of very nice young women, maybe
8-10 of them. We waited a loooong time and they wouldn't let us inside. We
were all freezing (at least Laurie and I were dressed more warmly than most
of the kids) and finally Laurie held the door open so we could at least get
some warmth! One girl (from the UP, probably used to preparing for
anything) had a friend go get her car and she had blankets and a coat in it
that she loaned to those of us waiting, then she drove the friend to HER
car and left her stuff with us to get autographed in case Mandy came out
before she got back. Of course he did. I don't know how long we waited,
probably close to an hour, but it was worth it. Laurie got her picture
signed and photos taken and I got an autograph and a picture taken with
him. We got the autograph for the girl who'd left. He was wonderful! It was
my first face to face meeting! He did seem a little tired (who wouldn't)
but the only sign I saw during the performance was he didn't hit even try
to hit the real high note at the end of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (I'd
just listened to it in the car on the way). He was so wonderful! Laurie
will probably give a better report when she gets home. I got in my car at
5:15 this morning feeling real sorry for myself because I'd only had 4
hours sleep, then realized Laurie wouldn't even be home for 24 more
hours--what a trip!

Does anyone know (or know wher I can find) a list of concert locations for the
coming months? I heard rumors some time ago that MP would be appearing in
Charleston, SC, but never heard anything afterwards. Any help would be a
godsend, as I've never seen him in concert and I'd *love* to remedy that. ;)

You can find Mandy's current tour schedule here:
http://home.att.net/~mosert/char/tour.htm

He is supposed to be at the Sottile Theater in Charleston on December
18th. I would suggest calling them for further info since their web
site is not very helpful. The number listed on there is (803)
953-6340. Good luck!

-----Y'all in San Francisco need to get out more during the week--Mandy's
Mamaloshen concerts, which were all during the week, were nearly 90% sold
here in the South (well, ok DC, but its below the Mason-Dixon line-hey its
late and I am punchy).

Of course ML on Broadway tanked during the week---something like 58%
attendance.

1. This was done much better in 1971. It's called The Andromeda Strain.
2. Plot remake alert. Fortunately I have a short memory.
3. Someone tell Lauren Holly to lose the eyeliner. It's like, so 15 minutes
ago.
4. Mark Harmon needs to zip it. And keep it zipped.
5. There's an episode of The Big Valley where an anthrax epidemic is sweeping
the area and this prize bull is dying from it and Heath gives him the
antidote and in minutes he's up and around. Didn't believe it then either.
6. I missed Jeffrey, even if they're writing him as a two-dimensional
nutcase.
6a. If I ever do meet David Kelley, he's got some explaining to do about this
season,
and
7. What I can't get out of my head is that, all bitching and grousing aside,
it could happen. Anytime, anywhere. Could've happened yesterday. Lovely world
we have here. Sweet dreams, everyone.

I have a random thought to add. By the way, I especially agree with 4, 6, and 6a.
;)

My thought? As happy I as was that Aaron survived, I thought it a mite odd that
with the first few fatalities, the people were proclaimed dead (by Rocky Carroll)
just after they began bleeding from the nose and mouth. Aaron (and Alberghetti
and the dad), however, had the same symptoms, but somehow kept living (?) long
enough to receive the miracle cure.

Oh, and two other thoughts: 1. I am getting really sick of the relationship--or
lack thereof--between Aaron and Gina. I like him and I like her, and if the
writers plan to get the two together they should simply go ahead and do it. 2.
Why would a random radical group in the midwest--that the FBI has been
after--choose an IRS building in Chicago? And it took the FBI all of ten minutes
to trace the aerosol can to the group. Wow.

Where *is* David E. Kelley? He obviously is not writing this stuff. If he's
writing this, then a ghostwriter is doing Ally McBeal, because it's a heck of a
lot better than CH.

Much to my disappoint, our Mandy wasn't on here CH, last night!

This is the first time I ever fell asleep during a CH show ;-(

Looks like Mary Ann was right, according to the previews, it looks like he
will be on next week ;-). Actually doing surgery ;-)

I am grateful that Adam Arkin, didn't bite the dust ;-)

I truly don't think that Lauren Holly adds anything to the show, am I the
only one?

Anxiously waiting for next Thursday.

Hey Guys,

Is it me, or is Jeffrey Geiger suddenly being written
as this relatively one-dimensional arrogant bad guy
with no heart, unless Alicia is in the room? Where's
the guy who had demons, but in all was a good guy and
even had some friendly moments with Shutt and Watters?
I mean, he may have been nuts and could get nasty, but
would he have fired the entire staff? I don't think
so. I just hate the way the Chicago Hope writers have
been using him as an almost always heartless
villanistic character these days.

This is what made Geiger's infrequent appearances after his departure so
maddening. Great to see him, but in most cases he was like an afterthought. I
had hoped that with DEK overseeing things it would be different this season,
but obviously not. Gnash.

DR

Diane, I absolutely agree w/you! It's like Geiger had a lobotomy! When he
does appear, it just isn't the same. I wonder if we complain about his
character change enough, they will get it? I doubt it, since the blood bath,
nothing is the same ;-(

It looks like he is going in the OR next week. Let's see if some of the old
Geiger reappears?

Hi Everyone,
Dont have much to add to Ericka and Liz's report about the Mamaloshen
concert in Michigan, except to say he will be recording the Kidults CD
on January 11th and 12th. Dont recall either mentioning he wears arch
supports in his New Balance tennis- If either one did, excuse me! Was a
incredible experience seeing my first Mamaloshen show.. and the wait to
meet Mandy afterwards was definitely worth it. The wonderful hug warmed
me up quick! Laurie

As always, sellouts for any artist depend upon the night of the week, and the
size of the house (as well as the artist's popularity in a particular country
or city).

Don't feel too badly. Because he interacts with the audience a lot, which
most artists don't, he often makes mistakes in trying to joke about something
when he CAN'T know the entire situation from the stage (like that someone is
blind, or in a wheel chair -- he can't always see that from the stage). We
all do the best we can. I'm sure he was just making a joke. I think the
whole bit with Ike must have been cute to watch, since he loves dogs, and
would have really gotten into this.
