The dialogue is like something out of 'Days of our Lives' 3) I loved Lauren Holly in Picket Fences and Barbara Hershey was O.K. in Beaches, but as these characters stand today, they may as well dump them. If they're trying to give the nod to more women in the hospital, it ain't workin. As much as I HATED Kate's character, Christine Lahti did a yoeman's job of making it work wherever she could. These two actresses are totally disengaged 4) Lose Mark Harmon. He obviously doesn't care much, and neither do the writers 5) Make up your mind about Aaron and Gina. They go from a few minor conversations and wistful looks to her yowling about how '...but this is AARON, we're talking about here...like it's the love of her life and everyone knows it. 6) If we want the writers to put Jeffrey back in perspective, I think we all need to bombard the CBS website with email. Though, I'm not sure these writers know how to craft the character. Clearly, they HAVE been watching the old episodes, since they've stolen from them, but I don't know that they have the skill to recreate Jeffrey 7) note to writers regarding plot theft (IRS audit of Aaron...old. Plague think...been there, done that. Guy with branch through his chest...see episode with metal stake through the guy's head). Can't we come up with something NEW? If not, see item 1 in this mailnote ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Yesterday's CH....(Long) Date: Fri, 12 Nov 1999 07:02:08 PST Errors-to: Sender: [email protected] X-listname: Comments: Originally To: [email protected] Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed X-Mailer: Mercury MTS (Bindery) v1.44 Hi all, this episode was a waste of time. As someone said previously, it is very stupid to see two or three patients die in the minutes that they get sick, and then Aaron and Francesca have all the time to get cured. That doesn't make sense (but is there any sense in this season so far...?). I just found what is the thing i hate the most in the show, apart from bad writing: the continuously-moving camera. I know this is something that is intended to make more action or suspense or whatever, but it's very annoying. As i already said before, i only seen the first two seasons, half of the third, some episodes from seasons 4 and 5, and all season 6 so far, and the thing that made me love the first seasons was the story, not the "always-moving-because-there's-no-plot-and-that-makes-the-impression-there's-is-some-action" camera, and because there was a plot back then, the camera was not moving.. I hate when it always moves like it's doing now. In the scene between Stu and Phillip, yesterday, there was no need for that type of camera moves, but it was there, and i couln't concentrate on what they said because it moved, moved, moved, and never stopped. ER is doing this, and i know that CH is doing it for a long time, but why? In the hope of attracting young audiences that wants some action? I'm young (22) and i don't need this. Last night episode was not great, and i want that Aaron and Gina get together fast, because it's becoming annoying. And Aaron was between death and life, couln't they call Camille? (OK, sorry, it's just that i really miss her). I think that Geiger is a genius. He knows that this hospital is falling into pieces, that the doctors are looking like zombies not knowing where they're going. He's appearing sometimes to help, to resolve problems, but he's not involving himself in this mess. He's watching from the outside, this hospital, the one that we all love, destroy itself. That's what Mandy's doing with the show: he's watching it dying... BTW, what was the official news: will there be 13 episodes or 20-something? I can only assume that CH adopted it because they thought it would draw in a younger audience...one raised on MTV. However, you are right, it doesn't replace good writing and it is distracting, 2) I have not heard that CBS has asked asked for anything beyond the initial 13 episodes and, with th efact that they are not using their strongest episodes (unless they consider last night a strong episode) during sweeps, and that they didn't even air the show last week during the first week of sweeps, it doesn't seem like CBS has much interest left in the show. We'll see what happens. I LOVE seeing MP, but wish they would kill this thing and let the actors move on to do better work. ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Thoughts on Last Night's PATHETIC Episode Date: Fri, 12 Nov 1999 10:45:00 EST Errors-to: Sender: [email protected] X-listname: Comments: Originally To: [email protected], [email protected] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Windows AOL sub 41 (via Mercury MTS (Bindery) v1.44) In a message dated 11/12/99 6:42:53 AM Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: << Just my additional thoughts on last night's pathetic episode: >> Maybe all you guys should post your messages on CH Board..and better yet, write to the show with your comments. What made us love Jeffrey was his vulnerability, which he seems to have lost. What made him vulnerable in the beginning was his love of his schizophrenic wife. So, question: Should they recycle this plotline, if they're gonna recycle plotlines, I mean, and give him another "troubled" girlfriend? This wouldn't be so unrealistic. A very good friend of mine tends to find girlfriends who need some sort of emotional help, and each relationship ends badly, or keeps dragging on and on and on, kind of like Jeffrey's and Laurie's. It wouldn't seem all that improbable that Jeffrey just has this psychological need to be with a woman who is more screwed up than he is. Or whatever it was. Snail mail is far more effective. Too easy to sit on your ass and fire off an email (don't I know it....) but it takes some effort to get off your ass and buy a stamp and find a mailbox. And I remember a few years ago, a bunch of us with a helluva lot of time on our hands wrote letters to the producers to ask them to change the theme song back. Which made me laugh even as I did it, because, please. It's just a theme song. True, the new theme song sucked, but it really wasn't worth my time to get it changed. I just felt bad for the guy who wrote the original one and hated the new one. On the other hand, I really miss the old "Drew Carey" theme song...... Anyway, our efforts didn't work, but word had it that the brass was impressed with our efforts, with all the snail mail they received about it. The writing stinks, the acting stinks even when Mandy is there it seems as if he isn't. Also, a thought about last night's show. Jeffrey was supposed to be in Israel during last night's show. He wanted to know everyone's suit size because he found a good cheap) tailor in Tel Aviv. I'm pretty sure that if he purchased suits for everyone the custom fees would probably cost more than the suits were worth or, more than if they were purchased in the States. Anyway, at least his name was mentioned. The best part of last night's show, in my opinion, was Sebastian! And Aaron was between death and life, couldn't they call Camille? (OK, sorry, it's just that I really miss her.) Poutchy Wrote the above: I feel exactly the same way. In fact, I was waiting for Camille to come through the door. Could we all write a mass mailing to CBS, and tell them how weak their story line is? I can understand Geiger going to Israel, but buying suits for everyone in the middle of a crisis? Not exactly reality! I can't believe that our Mandy has let his character reach an untimely demise. I for one, want the old Hope back, or more realistic writers. The old Hope had the human touch! We all have voices, let's use them. We are stronger in masses ;-) Patty ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: No Hope? If not, see item 1 in this mailnote My ? is, do we write to Dodger's, and let MP, know how we feel, or CBS. I have already written to CBS last month, even suggested an interesting plot for Geiger, (no response). Hey, if U write to Days of our life, at least U get a canned response! I know MP, left the show the first time because of conflicting schedules between his home life and the commute to LA. His heart is in his music, (yes he is also a great actor). I think there must be a time when they really count ratings, then air Geiger! That is pathetic. They use Mandy, then they go and change his character, ACK! I vote for a mass mailing, just tell me where? Even Hector Elinzondo's character has been a bit uncaring. I personally think that ER, isn't worth watching either! I fell asleep during both this week, ACK! Patty ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Thoughts on last nights Pathetic Episode! Jen Personally, the screwed up relationship w/his X, gave him something to sing about? Plus, I loved all the crazy train scenes, w/him and Aaron, listening to their pants ;-) There is so much I miss about this show. I guess all we have left are reruns, if they ever show Geiger on them. I truly think they want us to forget the "OLD Jeffrey"! He was just trying to get Ike to listen to him and, as we all know, when a trained dog is hearing two people trying to give it instructions, it can get confused. I know that Erika said after the show that Ike doesn't listen to anyone else, so that is why she was trying to help Mandy out, but Mandy had no idea that Ike is like that. And to me, it didn't seem that Erika was upset by the whole thing. I think she handled it all very well and so did Ike! It was one of those situations and it all turned out real well in the end. Jill wrote the above. I know a bit about labs, hence my screen name, LOL! (if in fact Ike was a lab)? He also was a working dog. Working dogs are totally dedicated to their masters, (who go through long training sessions, w/the dog). Ike couldn't care less who was giving the command, he would only listen to his master. These dogs go though 18 months w/much dedicated people who volunteer their time as walkers. They will take a pup in for approximately 18 months, and go through the paces, walking them through malls, towns, etc., so they can be used to all noises, (so they don't spook, when they actually get to their owner). After 18 months of grueling training, it is not guaranteed that the dog will be selected for working dog status, in which case it is usually adopted out. No reflection on Mandy, the dog was just doing his job. Labs even not trained in this way, have a very strong bond w/their owner, and are very protective. They are not vicious, friendly by nature, but would take the bullet for you! Yes, I have one ;-) Patty ----------------Message-boundary-- -- End --
