Lifetime does tend to repeat the same movies (over and over), so its a pretty safe bet that it will be on again. Or perhaps another station will air it. We went and saw BEING JOHN MALKOVICH today, a hysterically funny movie and I recommend it to you all. Though I must say that it must have taken some chutzpah, to pitch the film to Malkovich. It occurs to me that the film could probably accomodate any fairly well-known movie star. So, somewhere in some alternate universe there is an even better film, titled BEING MANDY PATINKIN... I think this was one of Mandy's better TV appearances. He was very funny and charming. And you saw a bit of his home (most of which we've seen before in print or on TV--kitchen, bit of living room, piano area). SPOILERS: Funny moments: Mandy seemed to be struggling with the food processor while the host was talking to his Mom. Finally he revealed he couldn't find the plunger--which was right on the top of the food processor that he was fiddling with, as his mom pointed out. At one point, MP took a handful of shredded potatoes (his mom was making potato latkes) formed a ball in his hand and said something to the effect that you take them like this and then yout throw them. MP later pretended to get his finger cut in the food processor. It seemed MP was perhaps playing the piano, but he really had the piano player turned on. A cute anecdote about MP trying to get on a show called Bozo's Circus (or something like that) in Chicago. (He never did, but knew a kid who did.) Mandy sang a bit of a "dreidl" song at the end. His mom talked about seeing him on TV for the first time and how she tears up in his concerts. phantm ############################################################ The Peter MacNicol Page Mandy Patinkin Showcase http://www.petermacnicol.net http://www.mandypatinkin.net ############################################################ ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: 11/28 TV Guide Celebrity Dish Date: Sun, 28 Nov 1999 18:49:01 -0800 (PST) Errors-to: Sender: [email protected] X-listname: Comments: Originally To: "Mandy Patinkin Mailing List" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii X-Mailer: Mercury MTS (Bindery) v1.44 Those of you Pacific and Mountain Timers are in for quite a treat. It's the 2nd segment of the show. Goes on about 20 minutes into the show and lasts about 20 minutes. Also on the show: Star Jones makes lobster tails and baked potatoes - both with cagin (sp?)/salt/cheese/sour cream/butter/garlic seasonings; Roma DOwney makes sherry trifle. So, just for fun once again, here are the songs that would fit his voice and that i would love him to sing on an album: 1. "I'll be there" (he's already done this one on CH) 2. "I Got Rhythm" (he really got that Gene Kelly style, i think that if they had live in the same period of time they would have been competition for each other) 3. "Singin in the Rain" (Gene Kelly again) 4. "If i were a rich man" (like i previously said, i love his voice on Mamaloshen, and it would be funny to hear him do this song, because it has the Jewish style) 5. "You'll never walk alone" (this one gives me shivers all the time, and Mario Lanza's version is awesome. Colm Wilkinson has done it, but it was a pop-version) 6. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (He's already done a Paul Simon song in Yiddish on Mamaloshen, why not do this masterpiece, this beautiful song in english?) ...and many others, that i can't think of now! Mandy's voice is great, and every song he sings get better because of this voice. Poutchy ps: I'm still asking for any footage with Mandy on it that you could send me on tape. I know i've already asked for it, but i'd really like to have first seasons episodes (and others too if possible) of CH in english. I can't trade, unless you want episodes in french. But I CAN PAY!! I have the money, and i can change it for american money. I know that a lot of people amongst this list got every episodes of Ch on tape, or at least many of them, and i'm still praying for a generous soul who would be very kind and send it to me. I'll say it again, i can pay for everything. I recently got a job, so this is why i can afford these kind of things. I don't want to harass people on this list, but it is the only way for me to get the episodes. I don't get LIFETIME here, so i can't watch CH (i can watch the current season on CBS, but that's it), and i can't watch Mandy movies that air on this network. You don't know how you are all lucky, and i don't know what is stopping you from sending me these things. Some people have answered to me, but not for CH episodes. This is not an angry message, by the way, i'm just hopeless, and i'd like to own these episodes in english just like most of you. I don't live so far from the States (Quebec, Canada), so it won't cost too much. Well, you and only YOU can decide what you want to do, so i'll keep praying...
