Can you all say epicenter? Yes, that's right, I was out visiting my friends Marilyn and Dale and they live outside of Palm Springs a mere 10 miles from the epicenter. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE !!! I have never in all my life lived through anything so scary! The house shook and shook and shook like beams were going to start falling at any moment. In stead of going away like the usual earth quakes we have, it was like the ever ready bunny, its just kept on going. I couldn't run from my bed because the floor was moving, you would have fallen down for sure. After it stopped it was amazing that more damage was not done.. her house was built very well! It was all most upsetting, especially being away from my kids. After an hour or so of watching the news and taking a valium, I went back to sleep. On a Mandy note.. Mar is going to do a page for the book and so is her husband, he first was joking around saying "Mandy you came and you gave without taking "we said oh that is so funny for you to put on your page! Then he made a smirk and said yes and "i am going to tell him how I felt having to watch Lifetime for Women ! " He was so funny! Mar is going to put a pic of him as a boy sitting by a new train set he had gotten for Christmas, he is wearing an engineer hat. Lots of other fun things on the page too. Thanks for asking Smit and Jo next time lets hope it is not an earth quake! Oh well... The boy had a complicated compound fracture, so dirt from the ground probably rubbed into the wound, that they couldn't get during disinfection (the bug, Clostridium perfringens, can also live in the ground). Disinfection of a complicated wound is tricky at best. And if he had touched the horse with his left hand, and he grabbed at his broken right arm with it, he may have infected the wound that way. Gas gangrene is an horrible infection, it can move very fast and amputation is usually the only effective treatment. MacNeil could have set the fracture without risking an hospital-acquired infection. Remember they thought the boy contracted hospital staph (pardon the pun) or possibly strep (the bug that can cause "flesh-eating disease" or necrotizing fasciitis). Gas gangrene suggests, the infection was not MacNeil's fault, even though he was forced to take responsibility for it. Just to make this on topic, it's good to be back, and I recognize most of you ;-) . (I was on the list in the beginning, but left about 18 months ago--long story.) I've been away so long, I had no clue Mandy was even in "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" until my husband and I took our 2-year-old to see it. It was a pleasant surprise and made the movie enjoyable. ;-) Mandy does a fantastic job as Huxley, he owns the screen in all his scenes. That averaged out to a 6.8, but the first ten seconds of the minute-long quake was an 8.3. Then it turned into two quakes which was pretty powerful too. We didn't have electricity, gas, and water for two weeks. Nothing was scarier. In January, it will be the 6 year reunion. Freaky. Most of it was the same except that it said that Mandy had been in contact with DEK and expressed a desire to continue that relationship, and that he was interested in any of DEK's shows. So...even if CH bites the dust Mandy may end up in one of the other shows, only let's hope it isn't Snoops. I love all DEK's shows but I just can't see his hand in Snoops. I just saw the most wonderful musical at my school. It's called Triumph of Love and if any of you are in the san diego area this coming weekend, you definitely need to see it. It's on campus. It's Thursday the 21st, the 22nd, 23rd at 8pm, and then Sunday the 24th at 2pm. It is put on by the Theatre Department and it's wonderful. The female lead is out of this world. In case anyone is interested. ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: MP in WP question Date: Sun, 17 Oct 1999 21:16:42 EDT In a message dated 10/17/1999 8:19:44 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: << Re: Wild Party Who handles the tickets for this? Both have websites for ticket ordering. I doubt if WP tix will go on sale before the 1st of the year. The subscriptions are just being set up and sent out and the subscribers will have a priority ticket period before sale to the general public. They havent set the preview period for the show yet, so no telling when those tix will go on sale. All just educated guess however. --C ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: his concert scedule? In case anyone is interested. I saw this the summer before last for its last performance on Broadway, and you're right, it's totally wonderful. The Broadway cast included Betty Buckley, F. Murray Abraham, and Susan Egan. The music was great and the play was both hilarious and touching. I'm thrilled that our local light-opera company, Skylight, is doing it the beginning of next year. Their productions are always first-rate.
