I'd rather see Jason Alexander take a shot at Nathan's roles. He has the comic ability, without giving up some level of reality....... Nathan is willing to take a risk and I love watching him. He is right up there with Tim Curry for me. Date: Wed, 20 Oct 1999 16:10:47 EDT I think that the dramatic roles that Lane has done have shown him to have depth and breadth. He just doesn't get that many roles. I was just about to mention "The Boys Next Door." And he had some really tender moments in "The Birdcage," if you look past the dress and pearls. He is so busy running around, making faces, flailing about that he is out of breath, forgets the lyrics and reduces the song to meaningless blather. >> Hard to take criticism seriously from some one who does not get the name of the song right--its "Buddy's Blues." Anyway, Sondheim picked Mandy for the role and liked the way he did the song and that is good enough for me!! Mandy either gets slammed or adored on the Sondheim/Muscials lists/newgroups--oh well, cant please everyone. --C ----C ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: episodes with mandy Date: Wed, 20 Oct 1999 21:49:07 EDT is mandy going to be on the show tomorrow (where Caccaci jumps off the building)? if he isn't, when is the next episode going to be aired with him? the patinkinitis is starting to develop into a chronic case. laura :) ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: episodes with mandy Date: Wed, 20 Oct 1999 23:28:45 -0500 (CDT) He was in last week's previews for tomorrow's show! Actually I haven't received ANY mail since then & my ISP says it shows no mail was sent to me in their logs. Can't figure out what was wrong. Eight messages finally came thru today for other things but still no Mandy mail. Can someone let me know if the server is down? Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 10:30:52 EDT Yes, yes...the scene where he realizes that he can't masquerade as the more masculine uncle and decides he has to go away. That was very touching. Also, although the scene at the outdoor cafe where he was practicing being 'male' (though it was hysterical) was also deeply moving at certain points where the relationship between Williams and Lane's characters was evident in its tenderness, etc. Great movie. And, to think they wanted Williams to play Lane's role and he decided he didn't want to. What a great decision! ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: episodes with mandy Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 10:36:00 EDT In a message dated 10/20/99 6:54:04 PM Pacific Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: << ow (where Caccaci jumps off the building)? if he isn't, when is the next episode going to be aired with him? the patinkinitis is starting to develop into a chronic case. >> why did u say this?? some of us don't like to know b4 things happen... ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: MP: New Yorker Photo/Article Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 10:36:49 EDT hey has the Eastcoast contingent gone to sleep??? ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: MP: New Yorker Photo/Article Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 11:13:52 EDT Nope...I'm still here.
