Date: Mon, 13 Sep 1999 17:45:50 -0700 (PDT) Would someone please explain why the guest actor spots are the month before but the writing awards get prime time? Seems like the writing and directing are more technical than a guest role. How long could those awards take anyway...maybe 10 minutes? I wish they'd lose the *cute* that aren't cute routines and award the guest roles instead. I was rooting for Jenna Elfman, myself. But yes, Peter MacNicol was robbed robbed robbed! I was very sad when he lost. As good as David Hyde Pierce is, it wasn't his turn! I, too, was happy about Holland Taylor and Michael Badalucco. But I think that Michael B can thank TT and I for HIS award. After all, we practically ran over him at the Creative Arts Emmys wishing him good luck! I'm sure it was either Tanja's touch on his arm or my handshake that provided the lucky charm for him. We'd have been happy to have done the same for Mandy if he'd deigned to show up. Too bad we couldn't do the same for Peter though. We need to work on this inconsistency before next year. :-) I still can't believe that DEK has not won a writing Emmy yet! What are these people waiting for? To give him one posthumously? I think TT's right: they're all just jealous! I just hope DEK gives a fraction of his magic back to CH this year! / Joanne ----------------Message-boundary From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: MP: Elmo & Lulu Date: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 16:48:55 +1000 Hi gang, They just advertised Elmo on TV - don't think there's even a fleeting image of Mandy on it, though. It said "now showing" but it doesn't start until Thursday - when I'll be at the first session! I'm planning to take notes while watching so I can remember the more pertinent points and will report back afterwards. On Monday of last week (while trying to get to see/meet John Sayles who was here promoting Limbo) I found out that Lulu was being shown at *one* suburban cinema - so I went to see it (again) the next day! Tomorrow, I'm returning to see it for the 4th time. I'm quite sure it will be the last day it's on and as it's now only on once a day (at 10:30am) I would have seen the very first and very last Melbourne screening of it. I never did get to see John Sayles in person but he was on a couple of TV shows here. Also in town last week, and being interviewed a few times, was Elmo! With one of them they showed quite a few little clips - including some of Huxley (in one short bit he's wearing less than the jammies)! In one interview, after talking about Vanessa Williams, Elmo was asked, "What about Mandy, did you like him?" Elmo chuckled and said, "He was sooo funnny! He was the one who wanted to put those big eyebrows on his head". So now you know, you can't blame the Henson people for them! If the cinema that's showing Lulu had only kept it on for another week, there would be a situation of that cinema (which has 5 screens) having in their programing at the one time, two films with Mandy in and a third featuring KG! I'm hoping to see Limbo again next Monday (when it's half price) and probably Elmo again on 23rd (which is the day it opens in the rest of Australia). :-P [Hey! There have to be *some* good points about 'living' in this place - if only fleeting ones] SueH ----------------Message-boundary-- -- End --
